Wayne Lemmer - Alumni Spotlight

Wayne Lemmer graduated from OIART’s audio production school in 2003 and soon afterwards the Ilderton native moved to Hollywood. There, he landed a job with 20 th  Century Fox, one of the top film studios in the world. Wayne’s Sound Design credits have included Kung Fu Panda, Transformers, Fantastic Four, X-Men and Black Swan. Now a six-time Motion Picture Sound Editors Golden Reel Award nominee, Wayne has ascended to the role of Supervising Sound Editor. Working closely with the Director, the Supervising Sound Editor is the person ultimately responsible for all sounds in a film. This past summer you could hear his work in the hit adult animated movie Deadpool. In 2014 he was Supervising Sound Editor on the nine-time Oscar nominated Wes Anderson film The Grand Budapest Hotel, for which he flew to England to also act as Sound Re-Recording Mixer.

Though Wayne’s original interest was in music production, a digital music class in university introduced him to the world of sound design and he never looked back. He attended the Ontario Institute of Audio Recording Technology to pursue his new passion for sound for film. “It just grabbed me,” Wayne said. “It engulfed my life. It was an exciting new venue for me to create and perform art.”
