John Diemer ’10, founder and owner of The Farmhouse Creative Labs in Toronto is a Sound Recordist, Editor and Mixer. The Farmhouse services a variety of clients such as UBER, one of the fastest growing companies in the world, as well as Hudson’s Bay and Indigo. John recently received a 2016 Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Sound in a Variety or Animated Program or Series for his audio work on John Mann Here and Now (CBC). Winners will be announced March 13. John also worked as a recordist on five time nominee The Amazing Race Canada and as Sound Supervisor on two time nominee Million Dollar Critic (W Network).
John’s audio career has seen him travel across Canada around the world on location with reality shows such as Canada Sings, Master Chef Canada, Top Chef Canada and Battle of the Blades, documentaries such as What Happens Next? The Dan Mangan Documentary and the Leo Award for Best Overall Sound in a Documentary Program or Series nominee A Brony Tale, a critically acclaimed film about adult men who love My Little Pony. He has also worked on the Emmy Nominated series Vikings and the international, award winning film festival hit Violent, which features soundtrack music from the band We Are The City. John was a highly successful student at OIART’s audio and music production program. He commented, “Everyday at OIART I was expected to troubleshoot and solve problems logically and efficiently.”
