For over 5 years, Kelly has collaborated with producers to help select pieces of music that perfectly meet all of the requirements for various projects. Specializing in music licensing and label negotiations for Much Music and the MMVA’s, Marilyn Denis Show, Your Morning, Etalk, Space, Discovery and in-house produced promotional spots, Kelly ensures that the appropriate rights have been obtained so that the music selected can be included in the production.
Kelly’s start in Music Licensing was inspired, in thanks to OIART, after a meeting with a guest speaker brought in to discuss the topic of Music Licensing for Film & Television. The opportunity provided to Kelly helped her to later land her first job at CMT Canada. There her time was spent working on programs such as The Dakota Sessions, Karaoke Star, Live at Revival, The Show and other in-house produced CMT shows.
From there, Kelly went on to work in the Music Supervision Department for Seasons 3 & 4 of the Gemini Award-winning competition series So You Think You Can Dance Canada, becoming proficient in tracking and placing Top 40 and independent music into each episode. This experience helped develop an understanding of how different genres of music are curated for various dance and choreography styles.
