Jason Dufour - Alumni Spotlight
Jeremy Alves | June 28, 2016
Looking forward to the new release Push + Pull by Juno winners July Talk? One of the engineers on the album is Jason Dufour, a 2007 alumni from OIART’s music production course. After graduation Jay assisted at two of Canada’s top recording facilities, Phase One and then Revolution Recording, assisting on projects by The Barenaked Ladies, The Trews, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, Three Days Grace and legendary Canadian supergroup Rush amongst many others.
Working his way up to Engineer, Jay’s credits include “Forcefield” by Tokyo Police Club, “Siberia Acoustic” by Lights, “Eliminate Ya!” by Big Sugar, “The Ocean at the End” by The Tea Party and Juno winner “Volition” by Protest the Hero. He has recently moved into a new studio space in Toronto where he engineers and mixes with Producer and Songwriter Michael ‘Sonner’ Sonier.
Jason says, “As I look back, I realize how invaluable my time spent at OIART was and still is — It gave me the foundational tools that I needed to build upon my skills and develop into my career as a recording engineer/mixer. I would highly recommend OIART to anyone seriously thinking about pursuing professional audio as a career.”
