Graham Lessard (’02) is the Senior Recording Engineer at the world famous Banff Centre nestled in Alberta’s Rocky Mountains. After graduating OIART’s music production course, Graham worked for the CBC Radio in Edmonton, where he made numerous recordings of folk, jazz, and classical musicians for CBC and The Banff Centre. He then moved to Montreal, where he continued with the CBC and worked as a freelance engineer and producer. Graham then returned to Banff in 2012 to accept their top engineering position. His credits include Kevin Drew, Stars, Young Galaxy, Reuben and the Dark, and 2015 Juno nominated albums by Timber Timbre and The Barr Brothers. He is also a past recipient of a CARAS award for Music Recording. Graham has also returned to OIART to speak to the next generation of audio engineers.
From the Banff Centre; “Each year, hundreds of musicians travel to Banff from around the world to rehearse, compose, perform and record. Graham is part of a team ensuring the success of their recordings, whether a live concert performance or a studio production. Along with the Director of Audio and an international group of Audio Engineer Practicum participants, Graham works with artists spanning the spectrum of musical genre to translate their vision into a compelling sound recording. In addition to music recording, Graham also works closely with the Video team to deliver high quality sound to the Banff Centre’s online video productions.”
